organic Live blackworms

Live blackworms. A great meal or treat for your fish.

You have selected one of the best tropical fish foods available. You will find that your fish will be healthier and maintain their true colors. Our California Blackworms are the perfect food for conditioning new tropical fish and breeding tropical fish.
Upon the arrival of your Blackworms, thoroughly rinse them with chilled water (40-50°F) until their runoff water is clear and clean. We have found that untreated tap water works fine. When placing them in your live Blackworm keeper or other container, make sure that your worms are no thicker then 1/2 inch. If they are thicker, they may suffocate or try to escape from their container. Keep no more then 1/2 inch of water above them. A container the size of a shoebox works well for one pound or less, and a sandwich size Tupperware container is fine for 1/4 pound.
Keep your Blackworms in the refrigerator. They need to be kept between 40-55°F. Do not keep them in an aquarium, outside boxes, basements, etc., only in the refrigerator.
To keep your worms fresh, they should be rinsed at least once a day. Use only chilled water when rinsing. Do not use aquarium water or room temperature water, only cold 40-50°F water.
We have found that the biggest issues with keeping blackworms alive for several weeks stem from a few things: lack of cold, lack of daily rinsing, and keeping them in too much water.
Most customers have no problem with the refrigeration or daily rinsing aspect, some have had problems with keeping them in too much water. This being the case, we have a short pictorial rundown of how we keep worms.

Live Black Worms are great as a treat for your fish or to condition them for spawning. They’re kept in the fridge and contain high amounts of protein and fat. With no fillers like other aquarium foods these are a very high quality food. We are one of the few stores in the Seattle area that sells live black worms. If you’ve never tried them before stop by and ask us for a sample.
